YAMS - Quick and easy side dish

Ingredients

  • Yams

  • Unsalted Butter (Margerine)

  • Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger and Allspice mix

  • Brown Sugar or the sweeter choice that fits you (See salt and sugar suggestions page)

  • This is just one way of doing this. Adjust to your desire.

Preparation

Step 1


Wash and peel yams.

Depending on the size place whole (if they are small) or cut up big yams in a pot of water.

Boil until soft.

Check with a fork to see if they are soft.



Step 2


Drain hot water carefully.

Add next ingredients into the pot. Or separate and do not smash half for later.



Step 3

Mix seasoning xxxxxxx.

Or just buy Apple Pie spice or Pumpkin spice powder. Easier



Step 4


While hot mix butter and spices to taste.

(Stop here for a no sugar side dish)

Add brown sugar to taste or honey.

Or the sugar substitute that matches what is good for you.
